This beginner path develops an intuitive understanding of exponents, including positive, zero, and negative integer exponents. You will learn why the product, quotient, and power rules work and use them to simplify expressions.

You will explore square roots and cube roots as inverse operations, estimate roots that are not perfect squares or cubes, and connect radical notation with fractional exponents.

You will also use scientific notation to read, write, compare, and calculate with very large and very small numbers in real-world contexts.
