In the second module, you will meet “unknown heroes” and connect ideas with and, but, and so as you build longer sentences. You will also practice asking and answering who, what, and where questions and expand your vocabulary for describing people. Across the course, you will work with readings and listenings, vocabulary practice, grammar guides and quizzes, and short writing and speaking showcases. By the end, you will be able to introduce people, describe them clearly, and share simple past events and stories.

Talk about technology and the planet in clear, confident English. First, you will explore the history of cars in the United States while building vocabulary for cars and automotive technology. You will practice comparative adjectives to compare two things and use imperatives to give and follow directions. Then, you will turn to sustainability and learn vocabulary for helping the Earth, including the meaning and impact of Earth Day. You will create longer sentences with because, when, and if, and use can for possibility as you discuss actions that support a cleaner environment. Across both modules, you will work through readings and listenings, vocabulary practice, grammar guides and quizzes, and writing and speaking showcases. By the end, you will be able to compare products, give directions, and explain ideas about environmental choices in everyday conversations.

Get ready to use English on the move. You will begin by talking about tourism and national parks, learning vocabulary for locations and free-time activities and using prepositions of place to say where people and things are. You will also strengthen your writing by practicing capitalization for important words. Next, you will step into shopping situations with vocabulary for clothes and prices, questions with how much and how many, and language for likes and dislikes. You will describe what is happening now with the present continuous and build confidence for everyday conversations in stores and online. In the final module, you will explore the movement west in U.S. history while practicing trip preparation vocabulary, sequencing actions, simple past tense verbs, and questions like How did…? and How was/were…? Throughout the course, you will complete listening and reading work, grammar practice and quizzes, and writing and speaking showcases. By the end, you will be able to describe places, ask about prices and quantities, and talk about past travel experiences.
