Time synchronization between device clocks is becoming more and more critical in the modern world. For the Network Engineer, understanding protocols that facilitate clock synchronization has moved beyond NTP which was typically used to provide accurate timestamps to SYSLOG and debugging messages. Now, Network Engineers building and maintaining networks connected to industrial and robotics devices, and even Cellular backhaul networks, have to synchronize with those device down to the nanosecond level. This is where the Precision Time Protocol has a role to play. This course will familiarize you with PTP, all of its relevant terminology, clock types and synchronization processes.
