To transfer data across a network, basic things such as IP addressing, VLANs and Routing Protocols need to be configured on network devices. But above-and-beyond these basic features and protocols, certain optional network services can be implemented to help make network monitoring and redundancy more effective. This course will introduce you to four features that can be implemented on networking gear. We start with the Network Time Protocol and you'll learn how this protocol will greatly ease your troubleshooting and monitoring efforts. Then the course moves on HSRP and VRRP, two competing protocols for adding Gateway Redundancy to your network. Finally, you will learn about IP SLAs and how they can be used to proactively detect network degradation.
