This course reviews the IBM classic network infrastructure, including network connections and security. Additionally, this course covers effective strategies to connect to IBM Cloud using Direct Link. Finally, this course differentiates between the IBM Cloud Gateway Appliance options to add security and network services at the edge of public or private cloud environments.

  • Recall how the underlay and overlay networks work together.
  • Identify issues that may be encountered when connecting the underlay network to the overlay network.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the physical host connections.
  • Identify VLAN Bill of Materials (BOM) for vCenter Server instances.
  • Recall what primary and portable subnets are and identify their restrictions and limitations.
  • Identify the packet flow from customer premises across Direct Link v2.0 to the NSX-T T0 router.
  • Differentiate between IPSec, GRE tunnels, and other techniques to encapsulate customers traffic when traversing IBM’s cloud underlay network.
  • Identify use cases for using IBM Cloud transit gateway.
  • Differentiate how routes are propagated using TGW when used between VPC and Classic vs how this is done for non-Classic use cases.
  • Identify use cases where NAT assists customers in working around IP conflicts.
  • Identify use cases for Generic Routing Encapsulation (GRE) Tunnels.
