By the end of this course, you will be able to look at the world of design with a completely new perspective, dismantling ingrained conventions and radically changing your point of view. Through the exploration of the so-called "Worldview Alternatives", you will learn to navigate the "Design Playing Field", fully understanding how different cognitive levels and the concepts of success and failure influence your daily creative work.
You will also learn to push far beyond the boundaries of traditional knowledge to understand exactly where to look for answers to the most complex challenges. This will happen by questioning your core beliefs and challenging the deep logic (the "Grundlogik") of the "Why, How, What" pyramid, consciously venturing into the unexplored territories of the Unknown (Unk) and the Great Unknown (Gunk).
You will then acquire a critical and strategic vision that will allow you to rethink not only the creative phase , but also the management and entire development of the design process . By mastering the interaction between elements such as the Brief, the final output ("It"), and its negation ("Anti-It"), you will be able to drive innovation by applying unconventional management approaches, such as "management by walking backwards". Finally, you will come to redefine the very nature of the products you conceive through the "Objectomy" approach , learning to enter ideally into the mind of the object itself (the "Meta-it"). Ultimately, this transformative path will lead you to rethink your own identity, exploring the fine and fascinating line between the completed work and your personal and professional evolution as a designer (the "Meta-you").
What you will learn:
- Develop a “Design Strategy”: understand how design can act as a strategic tool to define an organization’s long-term vision and build a coherent and recognizable brand language;
- Decode the Emotional Language of Form: analyze and interpret “surface language,” understanding how the sculpting of volumes and the interplay of light and shadow are used to shape perception and generate a specific emotional response;
- Manage Disruptive Innovation: recognize the principles of “disruptive design,” assessing how to balance risk and innovation in order to challenge the status quo and drive change in complex industries;
- Apply Holistic Design Thinking: transfer the fundamental principles of design thinking - integrating art, philosophy, and engineering - to multidisciplinary contexts and industries beyond automotive, from product design to business management.
