This course serves as initial and refresher training on for turboprop engines, with a specific focus on the Pratt and Whitney PW 123B engine. It begins with an introduction to turboprop engines and discusses their modular design, which includes a reduction gearbox module and a turbomachinery module. The turbomachinery features a three concentric shaft design with components such as a high pressure centrifugal compressor, low pressure compressor, high pressure turbine, low pressure turbine, power turbine, and drive shaft. The second part of the course covers auxiliary power units (APUs). It also includes chapters on engine construction and air inlet ducts. The course explores the combustion section, engine indication, and fire detection and extinguishing systems. Additionally, it addresses turbofan cowlings, mounts, and seals.
