This course will take approximately one and a half hours to complete ... including taking the exam at the end.This course will provide you with an understanding about why policies procedures, instructions, rules, regulations, and best practices exist and why they are the “safety net” foundation for aviation maintenance safety. The course suggests that deviations from these critical safety nets creates unacceptable and unsafe conditions. The course introduces five of the most common “rationalizations” that mechanics use to justify when they intentionally deviate from these safety nets and uses a ficticious nose gear collapse story on video to provide you with some examples when a mechanic might become involved in one or more of these “rationalizations.” The course also suggest some alternatives you can take to the hangar with you to use when "rationalizations" make it appear that not following procedures could be an acceptable option.
