Identifying Human Factors covers the problems involved with pilot-to-mechanic communications. The use of written Pilot Reports is a common communication tool but is shown to have several shortcomings. Students will review typical pilot-to-mechanic communications such as Pilot Reports. Examples of how the effectiveness of Pilot Reports can be improved by using verbal communications is presented to the student. Use of Surveys to assess attitudes and stereotypes maintained by both pilots and mechanics are used to alert the students to communication breakdowns. Students will learn that increasing certain types of Pilot/Mechanic communication will dramatically improve maintenance effectiveness.
