Syllabus

This course is designed like a game, where each level builds on the last. Starting with the fundamentals of sketching and extrusion, you’ll progressively unlock advanced modeling techniques, learn to create assemblies, and practice exam-level part modeling. By the end, you’ll have the skills and confidence to design professional 3D models in SOLIDWORKS and prepare for real-world applications or certification.

  • Section 1: SOLIDWORKS Foundations: Sketching and Extrusion
    • Level 1: Basic Sketch and Extrusion
    • Introduction to creating precise 3D models from 2D sketches. Focus on mastering the Extruded Boss/Base feature and building a strong foundation in sketching and extrusion techniques.
    • Level 2: Sketch Tools and End Conditions
    • Exploring advanced sketch tools and learning how to control extrusions using different end conditions. Develop confidence in crafting more complex 3D models.
  • Section 2: SOLIDWORKS Advanced Sketching & Reference Geometry
    • Level 3: Sketch Patterns
    • Mastery of linear and circular sketch patterns to streamline the design process and tackle advanced modeling challenges efficiently.
    • Level 4: Reference Geometry
    • Introduction to reference geometries such as planes and axes, along with slot sketch entities. Learn how to create precise and efficient models using these foundational tools.
  • Section 3: SOLIDWORKS Revolution & Cut Features
    • Level 5: Extrude Cut and Fillet/Chamfer
    • Enhancing models through extruded cuts to remove material and refining edges with fillets and chamfers to achieve a professional finish.
    • Level 6: Revolve Boss and Revolve Cut
    • Using revolve features to create complex, symmetrical 3D models from 2D sketches. Emphasis on precision and efficiency in rotational modeling.
  • Section 4: SOLIDWORKS Feature Patterns & Sweeps
    • Level 7: Feature Patterning
    • Application of mirror, linear, and circular pattern tools to replicate design features and streamline the modeling workflow.
    • Level 8: Sweep Boss and Sweep Cut
    • Exploration of sweep features to create complex, curved 3D shapes from 2D sketches, focusing on accuracy and control in advanced geometry.
  • Section 5: SOLIDWORKS Assemblies & Exam-Level Part Modeling
    • Level 9: Assemblies and Mates
    • Building assemblies using a variety of mating techniques. Ensuring proper alignment and functionality when combining multiple parts.
    • Level 10: Exam-Level Part Modeling
    • Creating complex 3D models from 2D sketches at a certification-ready level. Developing skills for tackling advanced modeling challenges in both exams and real-world applications.
