Getting a Django application running locally is one thing. Getting it running reliably in production with a managed database, secure networking, automated deployments, and proper monitoring is an entirely different challenge. This course bridges that gap by taking you through the full journey from local development to a production-grade Django deployment on Azure.
You will start by setting up a containerized local development environment that eliminates configuration drift, then scaffold your cloud infrastructure from declarative templates using Infrastructure as Code principles. From there, you will provision a managed PostgreSQL database, evaluate service tiers for different workload profiles, and deploy your Django application with an automated build system and a properly configured Gunicorn production server.
Security is woven throughout. You will implement passwordless database authentication using managed identities, removing static credentials from your configuration entirely, and route traffic between your application and database over private networks instead of public endpoints. Your deployment pipeline will use OpenID Connect federation for secretless CI/CD, so no long-lived credentials exist anywhere in the workflow.
The course closes with observability. You will instrument your application with OpenTelemetry to collect telemetry, trace requests end to end, and diagnose performance issues and startup failures from real monitoring data.
