Data analyst interviews are your chance to show more than technical ability. Employers want to see whether you can define the right metrics, work through messy data questions, communicate tradeoffs, and connect analysis to real business decisions. This course helps learners prepare for the recruiter, SQL, Excel and BI, metrics, case, and behavioral rounds commonly used in analytics hiring.

Along the way, you will build familiarity with the Microsoft analytics stack many candidates encounter, including Excel , Power BI , Microsoft Learn training paths, and Azure data vocabulary, while also learning how to adapt when employers use other BI tools. You will clarify what Data Analysts are expected to do, map each interview stage to what hiring teams are evaluating, practice SQL and spreadsheet reasoning, discuss DAX and data-model concepts at a conceptual level, and present projects using a STAR framework tailored to analytics stories.

Syllabus

  • Clearly describe the responsibilities of a Data Analyst and distinguish the role from related positions such as Data Scientist, ML Engineer, Analytics Engineer, and Software Engineer.
  • Deconstruct data analyst interview processes and evaluation criteria to strategically prepare for each stage.
  • Apply core concepts in SQL, Excel, Power BI-style reasoning, metrics, and analytical communication to interview-level technical questions.
  • Present data analytics projects and decisions with clarity, demonstrating judgment, business relevance, and measurable impact.
