Upon completing the first three courses of the Professional Certificate, you should have some foundational knowledge about computers, operating systems, networking, and cyberthreats, all of which put you in a good position to explore cybersecurity in greater detail.
In this course, you’ll explore the world of authorization and authentication, and understand the concepts of two-step authentication and single sign-on policies. You’ll also become familiar with the features and capabilities of Azure Active Directory (Azure AD), particularly those relating to the benefits of using Azure AD to manage an enterprise’s security requirements including access management, identity governance, and management. This course will take you one step closer to the Microsoft Cybersecurity Analyst Professional Certificate, which requires no degree or prior experience.
After completing this course, you’ll be able to:
• Explain the concept of Active Directory
• Describe Authentication methods
• Discuss access management
This is also a great way to prepare for the Microsoft SC-900 exam. By passing the SC-900 exam, you’ll earn the Microsoft Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals Certification.
Syllabus
- Identity services
- This module introduces core identity services in Microsoft Entra ID and their role in managing enterprise security. You will explore identity types, user and group management, and how identity supports secure access to applications, including SaaS environments. The module also covers subscription models and implementation considerations, enabling you to understand how identity services form the foundation of access management systems.
- Active Directory authentication
- This module focuses on authentication mechanisms used to secure access in enterprise environments. You will learn about different authentication methods, including single sign-on (SSO), multi-factor authentication (MFA), and password management strategies. The module also covers hybrid identity models, password protection, and self-service password reset (SSPR). By the end, you will understand how authentication strengthens access control and reduces security risks.
- Active Directory access, protection, and governance management
- This module explores advanced identity and access management capabilities within Microsoft Entra ID. You will learn to implement conditional access policies, manage roles through role-based access control (RBAC), and apply identity governance practices. The module also covers privileged identity management (PIM) and protection strategies to secure sensitive access. By the end, you will be able to design and manage secure, policy-driven access environments.
- Identity and access solutions
- This module consolidates your learning through a hands-on project where you configure identity and access policies in a real-world scenario. You will apply authentication, access control, and governance concepts to design secure solutions. The module also includes a final assessment to evaluate your ability to implement identity and access management strategies effectively.
