This course forms part of the Microsoft Power BI Analyst Professional Certificate. This Professional Certificate consists of a series of courses that offers a good starting point for a career in data analysis using Microsoft Power BI. In this course, you will learn how to creatively design dashboards, reports and charts that are easier for the audience to use. You will learn how to create cohesive business intelligence reports and dashboards, as well as what common problems to avoid. The insights that you will gain will help you to tell compelling stories using specialist chart visualizations and visual elements such as videos, streaming data and QR Codes. After completing this course, you'll be able to: ● Create compelling and cohesive reports and dashboards ● Recognize common problems in design in Power BI Reports and Dashboards ● Produce audience focused reports and dashboards ● Work in detail with specialist chart visualizations ● Use visualizations in reports ● Add elements such as videos, streaming data and QR codes to dashboards This is also a great way to prepare for the Microsoft PL-300 exam. By passing the PL-300 exam, you'll earn the Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst certification.

Syllabus

  • Visualization and Design
    • In this module, you will focus on the core principles behind effective data display and report design. You will consider how security affects what can be shown and shared in visualizations. You will also learn how to shape a cohesive report by selecting and prioritizing the most relevant information for a specific audience.
  • Designing Powerful Report Pages
    • In this module, you will focus on report-page design principles that support clear communication of data. You will apply visual clarity techniques and use multi-dimensional visualizations to present relationships and comparisons effectively. You will also incorporate map visualizations when location adds meaning, and use Python-based visualizations where they fit the reporting need.
  • Dashboard Design and Storytelling
    • In this module, you will distinguish dashboard design from report design and choose each based on purpose and audience. You will use advanced dashboard features, including embedded media and QR codes, to extend how users access and interact with information. You will also examine the process and impact of data storytelling—how insights are framed and communicated to support understanding and decision-making.
  • Final project and assessment: Creative Design in Power BI
    • In this module, you will bring together the core skills from the course in a single final project and assessment focused on creative design in Power BI. You will also review the course’s main objectives and reflect on what you’ve learned and how you want to apply it next.
