By the end of this course, you will (1) apply adaptive yoga to accelerate tissue healing and restore function and (2) design recovery-focused programs using biomechanics, breath, and graded exposure. Guided by Yoni Kedem, RYT, you’ll learn how to modify postures with props, adjust loads and ranges, and pace progressions for clients who are injured, deconditioned, or new to yoga. Each lesson unpacks the anatomy and mechanics behind key poses and transitions, linking them to clinical aims such as reducing pain, improving circulation, and reclaiming strength and mobility. Short, targeted practice labs and graded assignments help you translate concepts into safe, personalized plans for post-acute and sub-acute stages, sport return, or chronic pain management.

Syllabus

  • Introduction Fundamentals
    • This course explores how yoga can be used as a powerful and accessible tool for muscle recovery, rehabilitation, and overall wellbeing. Under the expert guidance of instructor Vern, you’ll learn how to apply simple, effective yoga practices to reduce tension, improve circulation, and restore healthy movement patterns following exercise, strain, or injury. The course is rich with practical tips for beginners and for teachers working with beginners, offering guidance on adapting postures and sequences for different body types, abilities, and fitness levels. You’ll discover how mindful breathing and alignment enhance recovery and support neuromuscular coordination, and how yoga’s emphasis on balance and awareness helps prevent overuse and re-injury. Combining traditional yoga principles with modern understanding of anatomy and muscle function, this course provides a safe, supportive foundation for anyone looking to integrate yoga into rehabilitation, athletic conditioning, or self-care practice.
  • Grounding and Stability Foundations
    • This module introduces grounding and stability as essential elements of safe yoga practice. Participants learn how foundational postures develop balanced weight distribution, joint alignment, and neuromuscular support. With an emphasis on identifying common misalignments and related trigger-point patterns, learners explore how proper setup and mindful engagement can reduce strain, improve confidence, and create a strong base for movement.
  • Standing Poses and Balance Foundations
    • This module builds functional balance through standing postures that challenge coordination, alignment, and proprioception. Learners discover how instability and overcompensation in balance work can reveal muscular imbalances and trigger-point involvement—particularly in the feet, hips, and core. Practical positioning and breath cues help practitioners enhance control, calm the nervous system, and move with greater ease.
  • Practice Assignments
    • This module provides an opportunity to consolidate and apply what you’ve learned throughout the course. You will review key concepts, reflect on clinical relevance, and complete a short practice assignment and/or course reflection quiz. The goal is to reinforce understanding and strengthen your ability to integrate these skills into real-world client care.
  • Final Reflective Exam
    • This final exam is designed to assess your understanding of the key concepts presented throughout the course. Please review all video lessons and written materials before beginning. A passing score of 70% or higher is required to successfully complete the course and earn your CE certificate. You may reference your notes during the exam. Once you pass, your certificate will be available for immediate download.
