Learn to build dynamic web applications with PHP and XHTML, from your first server-side script to forms that respond to user input. Designed for beginners and aspiring web developers, this course gives you a practical introduction to how PHP generates XHTML and controls application behavior. You’ll configure and verify a local PHP environment, write scripts using variables, and generate multi-line XHTML output. You’ll then design XHTML forms, compare GET and POST methods, and process different types of input. Finally, you’ll use conditional statements, comparison and logical operators, switch statements, and loops to control how your scripts respond. The course’s hands-on progression connects each concept to a working part of a server-side application. By the end, you’ll be able to create and process forms, analyze program flow, and develop PHP scripts that produce dynamic web content.

Syllabus

Introduction to PHP and Server Setup
- This module introduces learners to the fundamentals of server-side programming with PHP, including how to set up a local development environment, write and execute basic PHP scripts, and produce structured XHTML output using PHP.
Forms and User Input in PHP
- This module explores how PHP interacts with XHTML forms, covering the creation, submission, and processing of forms using various HTTP methods and input types to capture and manage user input effectively.
Control Structures and Operators in PHP
- This module delves into PHP control structures, teaching how to use conditional logic, comparison and logical operators, and iterative statements to control program flow and decision-making in server-side scripts.
