This course will offer you an opportunity to learn about additional design planes, design thinking, and prototyping techniques. The concepts in this course will prepare you to work with modern design software, apply design techniques, and how to use common design software. Throughout your time in this course, you will be given opportunities to check your understanding of course material, as well as engage in quizzes to reflect on all the concepts you have explored within each module. By the end of this part 2 course on user experience and design testing, you will have a foundational understanding of the design planes and user testing.

Syllabus

Course Welcome & Skeleton Plane with Guest Lecture

In this module, you will focus on practical techniques for applying the Skeleton Plane to information design, navigation design, and information architecture. This will enhance your ability to create effective and user-friendly digital interfaces. You will move beyond theoretical knowledge to hands-on experience assembling UX portfolios—a vital component supporting advancement in UI/UX careers. The module also includes a guest lecture offering insights from experienced industry experts.

High-Fidelity Prototyping with Figma

In this module, you will master designing high-fidelity screens, understanding their importance in creating polished and realistic user interfaces. The spotlight is on understanding and using the core features of Figma, a versatile design tool that enables you to design functional and visually compelling user interfaces for applications. Through hands-on labs, you will enhance your proficiency in high-fidelity prototyping, transforming your design concepts into detailed and sophisticated realities. This module serves as your entry point to mastering the creation of seamless, interactive, and visually appealing app interfaces, preparing you for a significant advancement in your UX design skills.

Advanced Design-to-Code with Framer-Figma

In this module, you will explore the features and functionalities of FigJam and utilize Figma to create detailed website layouts and user interfaces. Attention shifts to the process of design-to-code, where students learn how to convert designs into React code using the Anima plugin, effectively narrowing the divide between design and development. Additionally, the module covers the concept of no-code websites with Framer, providing insight into the changing world of web development without the need for traditional coding.

IBM Design Thinking & User Testing Gateway

In this module, you will explore the dynamic stages of IBM Design Thinking, gaining proficiency in applying this renowned framework to real-world problem-solving scenarios. The lessons extend into UX research, with a focus on usability testing, user testing, and A/B testing. Students will not only grasp the theoretical foundations of user testing but will also develop skills in evaluating and optimizing user experiences. Google Material Design and Whiteboarding Challenge

In this module, you will explore the principles and guidelines of Google Material Design, uncovering the keys to crafting visually appealing and cohesive digital experiences. The module culminates with a whiteboarding interview simulation, providing participants with the opportunity to showcase their problem-solving abilities in a collaborative and dynamic setting. This module encapsulates the core of our UX course, combining industry-standard design principles with practical challenges, which prepares students to become not just practitioners but also innovative problem solvers ready to excel in the dynamic field of UX design.

Surface Plane: UX Quality Assurance

In this module, you will explore the Surface Plane, the final stage in the UX design process, while creating a comprehensive visual design checklist. The module further examines Quality Assurance (QA), where you'll learn testing techniques to identify and resolve issues in software products. To this end, you'll explore both Black Box and White Box testing methods to ensure the highest quality in UX designs. This module marks a significant milestone, equipping you with the skills to deliver flawless and visually captivating user experiences.

UX Principles

In this concluding module, you will apply the array of UX principles learned throughout the course. With a focus on effective communication, participants will learn to articulate a design rationale, showcase iterative processes, and demonstrate their commitment to user-centric approaches. This module serves as the final course wrap-up, providing a reflective space to consolidate knowledge and refine skills.
