Explore how blockchain technology is transforming financial services and creating new approaches to digital finance. In this course, you’ll examine how blockchain can address long-standing challenges in financial systems while enabling developments such as decentralized finance (DeFi), tokenization, and digital identity. You’ll explore the evolution of financial services and the move toward digitization, including the relationship between physical and digital assets. You’ll also examine blockchain-based identity systems, regulatory considerations, and the principles that shape blockchain solutions in financial services.

Syllabus

  • Rethinking Financial Services
    • This module examines how blockchain is driving the rise of decentralized finance (DeFi) - a movement that is transforming the foundations of the global financial system. We'll examine how blockchain is being used to address long-standing inefficiencies in the global financial system—from costly settlement delays to fragmented identity verification.
  • The Move Towards Digitization
    • In this module, you’ll gain insight into how tokenization power decentralized alternatives to traditional financial infrastructure.
  • Identity
    • In this module, you’ll gain insight into how distributed identity systems, and smart contracts power decentralized alternatives to traditional financial infrastructure.
  • Regulation
    • This module introduces you to the concept of blockchain regulation and discusses fundamental questions and regulatory principles.
  • Design Considerations for Blockchain in Fintech
    • With attention to technology and business implications, this module equips you to critically evaluate the opportunities and limitations of blockchain and DeFi within the evolving fintech landscape.
  • Evaluation
    • This module will test your understanding on Blockchain Transformations in Financial Services.
