Syllabus

  • Module 1 – Introduction to The Hunt
    • Welcome to The Hunt! Whether you are launching your career, shifting direction, or actively seeking to advance, this course is structured to help you take ownership of your job search, and navigate it with purpose, clarity and confidence. Over six modules, and through tailored opportunities for self-reflection, we will connect your head and your heart, empower you to articulate your impact statement, and help you move forward intentionally and strategically to land your next role. Because – as you know – it's not just about finding any job, but finding the best role for who you are now, and who you are becoming. In Module 1, Peter Boyd (Yale Lecturer and Founder of Time4Good) will set the stage for the tools and frameworks in The Hunt that can help you articulate your unique purpose, sharpen your personal pitch, and refine your tactics for outreach, networking, and landing the job. You will map out your spheres of control, influence and concern to anchor yourself in the context of your career journey, and brainstorm impactful actions to move forward. This module also briefly outlines Peter's career journey, and provides an important glimpse of the frameworks, resources and tools that are central to The Hunt – including the 3 levels, 2 triangles, and 1 square – and the personalized Hunt Dashboard that tracks your progress and actions. The module concludes with testimonials from Yale alumni all over the world who have used these tools to land their dream jobs. Let's get started!
  • Module 2 – Purpose
    • In this module, you will dig deep to clarify your personal and career “why.” This means identifying what truly drives you, what impact you want to make, and how your values align with the work you pursue. You’ll use tools like the Purpose Worksheet, Ikigai, and moral ambition concepts to refine both your personal purpose in your current life stage and your career direction. You’ll also explore confidence, humility, and the role of self-affirmation in sustaining your motivation during the job search.
  • Module 3 – Priorities
    • In this module, you will clarify your priorities, both in work and in life, and learn how to communicate them effectively. You’ll explore how your brain processes priorities, use frameworks like “Rocks,” the “Two Triangles,” and the “Yearning Octopus,” and begin practicing your pitch. These tools will help you focus on what matters most to you while crafting compelling stories that resonate with potential employers and collaborators.
  • Module 4 – Potential
    • In this module, you’ll envision your professional potential, define what success looks like for you, and set concrete goals to achieve it. You’ll learn the PQRST method for vivid visualization, explore the value of setting goals within a supportive community, and identify the people who can champion your career growth.
  • Module 5 – Progress
    • In this module, you will bring together everything you’ve learned to track your progress, expand your network, and close opportunities. You’ll learn how to use the Hunt Dashboard, map key stakeholders, apply authentic networking strategies, and prepare for interviews to secure the right role.
  • Module 6 – Hunting Together
    • In this final module, you’ll focus on sustaining your momentum and supporting others in their hunts. You’ll explore ways to share resources, stay accountable, and build long-term relationships with fellow hunters. You’ll also reflect on your journey in The Hunt and identify next steps for continued growth and success.
