Terraform is one of the most widely used Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools for automating cloud provisioning. This course gives you the foundational skills to start using it with confidence. You'll begin by learning why IaC matters — how it solves the challenges of traditional infrastructure management and why Terraform stands out among IaC tools. From there, you'll install Terraform, set up your development environment, and write your first configurations using HashiCorp Configuration Language (HCL). As you progress, you'll work with Terraform providers to connect to cloud services, organize configuration directories, use input and output variables, and define resource attributes and dependencies. Each topic is paired with a hands-on lab so you can practice in a real environment. By the end of this course, you'll be able to write, update, and manage Terraform configurations that provision and control cloud infrastructure. These are foundational skills used daily by cloud engineers, DevOps practitioners, and infrastructure teams. Who this is for: Aspiring cloud engineers, DevOps practitioners, and IT professionals looking for a practical starting point with Infrastructure as Code. Basic familiarity with IT or cloud concepts is helpful, but no Terraform or coding experience is required.

Syllabus

Introduction to Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
- This module introduces Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and explains how it addresses the limitations of traditional infrastructure management. You’ll learn why Terraform is a widely used IaC tool, how it compares to other approaches, and when it’s a good fit for automating provisioning and management.
Terraform Essentials
- Get started with Terraform essentials by setting up your environment, writing basic configurations in HashiCorp Configuration Language (HCL), and using core Terraform commands to create, update, and destroy infrastructure through hands-on labs.
Terraform Configurations
- This module provides participants with foundational knowledge and practical skills in working with Terraform configurations. Participants learn how to utilize Terraform providers to interact with cloud services and APIs effectively. They explore the structure and organization of Terraform configuration directories and learn how to work with multiple providers within a single configuration. Through hands-on labs, participants develop proficiency in using input variables, defining resource attributes and dependencies, and defining output variables in Terraform configurations.
