By the end of this course, you’ll be able to speak more confidently on camera, express yourself authentically, and create videos that feel natural, engaging, and true to who you are. In this class, Nathaniel Drew shares what he’s learned from years of creating videos and building a career around communicating on camera. Speaking on camera isn’t a talent you’re either born with or without. It’s a skill that can be developed, and this course will show you how to feel more comfortable in front of the lens, take the pressure off the process, and stay spontaneous and interesting when you speak. You’ll also get a behind-the-scenes look at Nathaniel’s personal process, from scripting and filming to post-production, helping you better understand what goes into creating a finished video. Designed for aspiring content creators, YouTubers, online educators, and anyone who wants to share ideas through video, this class focuses on the mindset and communication skills that make a difference. No prior on-camera experience or technical video production knowledge is required—just a message you want to share and a willingness to practice. By the end, you’ll have the tools to create videos you feel genuinely proud of.

Syllabus

  • Build Confidence and Find Your Natural On-Camera Voice
    • Feeling comfortable on camera is a skill that can transform how you connect with an audience. In this module, you’ll explore why on-camera communication matters and what viewers actually care about when watching content. You’ll then work through practical techniques for loosening up and becoming more comfortable in front of the camera. By focusing on authenticity and connection rather than perfection, you’ll begin developing a more natural and confident on-camera presence.
  • Develop Ideas, Connect Your Message, and Use Scripting
    • Once you feel more comfortable on camera, the next step is learning how to shape your ideas into engaging content. In this module, you’ll explore how personal experiences can inspire video ideas and learn how to connect those ideas into a clear message. You’ll also discover how scripting can provide structure while still allowing your personality to come through, and how editing can strengthen the final result. Together, these techniques will help you communicate with greater clarity and intention.
  • Refine Your Process, Handle Criticism, and Keep Growing
    • Creating confident video content is an ongoing process of practice, refinement, and learning. In this final module, you’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at the video creation process and consider how the techniques covered throughout the course come together. You’ll also learn how to approach criticism constructively and use valuable feedback to improve. The course concludes with strategies for continuing to build your confidence and develop your own authentic voice on camera.
