A prototype that runs on your laptop isn't a product. This course covers what makes agent systems deployable: automated testing, observability, security, and governance, built with the GitHub Copilot SDK. You'll write test suites against mocked sessions, instrument agents with telemetry to catch behavioral drift, design security with sandboxing and RBAC, and ship a production-ready capstone that integrates every program skill. By the end, you'll be able to: - Create automated test suites using mocked sessions - Implement telemetry and logging to diagnose behavioral drift - Design security with sandboxing, RBAC, and compliance controls - Build and document a production-ready agent system Tools include the GitHub Copilot SDK, pytest, Jest, OpenTelemetry, Docker, MCP servers, VS Code, and Git/GitHub.

Syllabus

Testing Agent Behavior with Mocked Sessions
- Create automated test suites that validate agent behavior using mocked sessions and deterministic tool responses. You will learn to test the three hardest aspects of agent systems: planning accuracy, tool choice, and output quality, without depending on live model calls. The result is fast, repeatable, continuous integration-ready testing for agent workflows.
Observability: Telemetry, Logging & Drift Detection
- Implement telemetry and logging that capture the full decision trace of agent execution: every planning step, tool invocation, model response, and outcome, to diagnose behavioral drift in production. You will instrument agent systems with OpenTelemetry, design meaningful dashboards, and detect when agent behavior changes unexpectedly.
Security: Sandboxing, RBAC & Compliance
- Design security architectures for agent deployment, including sandboxed execution environments, role-based access controls, and compliance review processes. You will learn to isolate agent execution, restrict access by role, and conduct the risk assessments that enterprise deployments require, the governance layer that makes agent systems trustworthy.
Capstone: Production Agent System
- Build and document a production-ready agent system that integrates custom tools, Model Context Protocol (MCP) server connectivity, multi-agent orchestration, automated testing, observability, and security controls. This culminating short course produces a portfolio-ready artifact that demonstrates end-to-end agent engineering capability.
Project Module: Production Deployment Package
- Produce a production deployment package and the accompanying documentation suite for an agent system. This project focuses on the governance artifacts that enterprise teams need: a security risk assessment, a test strategy document, an observability runbook, and a deployment readiness checklist.
