This course is designed to provide a comprehensive foundation in Power Query and Power BI, equipping learners with the skills to transform, analyze, and visualize data efficiently. Participants will begin by exploring Power Query text and number functions, understanding key transformations such as formatting, merging, extracting, and statistical operations to structure raw data effectively. The course progresses to advanced data modeling in Power BI, covering essential techniques like fact and dimension tables, index columns, and custom column creation to optimize data relationships and queries. Learners will gain expertise in conditional column logic, row-level security, and workspace role management, ensuring controlled access and governance in Power BI environments. Additionally, this course covers dashboard and report creation, enabling participants to craft insightful visualizations with interactive elements. Features like Quick Insights, Semantic Model Modes, and configuration settings are explored to enhance analytical capabilities. This course is structured into multiple modules, each featuring lessons and video lectures that provide both theoretical understanding and hands-on practice. Participants will engage with approximately 3:00–4:00 hours of instructional content, reinforcing learning through graded and ungraded assignments, ensuring real-world applicability. Power BI: Power Query Editor with Functions and Coloums

This module provides a practical foundation in Power Query transformations and column management, empowering learners to clean, shape, and enrich data effectively before visualization. Participants will explore essential text functions such as formatting, merging, and extracting, as well as number functions for standard, scientific, and statistical operations. The module also introduces custom and conditional columns, which allow for tailored logic to be applied directly in the data preparation layer. Additional techniques such as indexing and duplicating columns will help optimize data structure for downstream reporting. By the end of this module, learners will gain hands-on expertise in preparing high-quality, analysis-ready datasets that integrate seamlessly into Power BI reports.

Power BI: Governance and Semantic Model Management

This module equips learners with the knowledge and skills to build secure, structured, and insightful Power BI solutions. Starting with transforming semi-structured data into tables using Power Query, learners will create normalized data models with fact and dimension tables. The module then focuses on data governance, including configuring item-level access, workspace roles, row-level security, and sensitivity labels to ensure secure report sharing. Participants will learn to design impactful dashboards and reports, understand the difference between the two, and explore Power BI’s Quick Insights feature for automated analysis. Additionally, learners will explore semantic model modes and how to check and optimize them for performance. This comprehensive module concludes with exam tips and a course wrap-up to reinforce key concepts and best practices.
