This course provides practical guidance on planning, conducting, and managing qualitative interviews. You will learn how to evaluate whether interviews are appropriate for your study, examine the strengths and limitations of different interview approaches, and select the interview type best suited to your research aims, participants, and data collection needs.
  • Doing Ethical Interviews
    • This module explores the ethical considerations involved in conducting research interviews and how these responsibilities extend throughout the interview process. You will examine key ethical issues that can arise before, during, and after interviews, and learn practical strategies for protecting participants, maintaining ethical standards, and conducting interview-based research responsibly and professionally.
  • Writing Good Interview Questions
    • This module focuses on designing effective interview questions that encourage participants to share meaningful and relevant information. You will learn how to create clear, accessible, and purposeful questions, understand common pitfalls in question design, and develop techniques for evaluating and improving the quality of your interview schedules to support rich and reliable research data.
  • The Logistics of Doing Interviews
    • This module explores the practical aspects of planning and conducting research interviews.     • This module focuses on turning coded qualitative data into meaningful findings and communicating those findings effectively.
