Running a hybrid team well over time is the real test of agentic team leadership. Most leaders lack frameworks for evaluating human contribution fairly when work is co-produced with agents, coaching hybrid teams, and managing agents through their lifecycle from launch through retirement. This course, Performance Management and Capstone Leadership, addresses those challenges and then integrates the full program into a portfolio-ready leadership artifact. You will define and measure performance with a balanced metric set, evaluate human contribution using an attribution framework, run coaching, feedback, and escalation routines tailored to hybrid teams, and manage the agent lifecycle so performance improves rather than drifts. You will then assemble the capstone leadership package, integrating design, configuration, governance, and performance from across the program into one coherent story with a tiered communication plan, risk-mitigation appendix, and a written elevator pitch, refined through structured peer review.

Syllabus

  • Defining and Measuring Agentic Team Performance
    • In this opening module of the performance-and-capstone course, you will learn to choose metrics that capture both quantitative output and qualitative trust signals, and to build a metric set that is balanced across speed, quality, cost, and human experience. You will distinguish leading from lagging indicators, recognize metrics that drive the wrong behavior if used in isolation, and assemble a one-page scorecard for an agentic team. The labs have you build a balanced scorecard for a multi-agent workflow.
  • Evaluating Human Contribution, Coaching, Feedback, and Escalation
    • In this module, you will tackle two of the trickiest people-management dimensions of agentic teams together: evaluating the human’s contribution fairly when work is co-produced with agents, and running the coaching, feedback, and escalation routines that keep both humans and agents improving. You will apply attribution frameworks and bias-aware performance conversations, then refine coaching, feedback, and escalation loops so they work for teams where some performers are agents and others are humans. The culminating lab drafts a performance review and a weekly operating rhythm.
  • Continuous Improvement and the Agent Lifecycle
    • In this module, you will close the performance loop by treating agents themselves as artifacts that need to be improved, retired, or replaced over time. You will study agent lifecycle management at a manager’s level, including drift, degradation, and the refresh decision, decide when to refresh, replace, or retire an agent, and integrate this work with the team’s broader operating rhythm. The labs have you author a twelve-month lifecycle plan for one agent in a multi-agent workflow.
  • Building the Integrated Leadership Package: Design, Configuration, and Governance
    • In this module, you will begin the capstone by integrating work from across the program into one coherent artifact. You will scope the agentic team you will lead, bring topology, allocation, roles, and decision rights into a team design document, specify the multi-agent configuration and integrations in watsonx Orchestrate, and assemble the governance package, reconciling design, configuration, and governance into one consistent story. The culminating lab produces the team design document, configured workflow, and governance package against the rubric.
  • Performance Plan, Communication, Risk, and Capstone Defense
    • In this module, you will complete the capstone. You will build the performance operating plan for your team, author a tiered communication plan for executives, peers, and affected employees, and document a risk-mitigation appendix. You will then submit the complete leadership package, conduct structured peer reviews, respond to feedback with a revision plan, and rehearse a concise defense of the design under stakeholder challenge. The culminating lab assembles and submits the polished capstone with a written ninety-second elevator pitch.
  • Capstone Submission and Course Wrap-Up
    • In this final module, you will formally submit the Professional Certificate capstone you assembled across Modules 4 and 5: a portfolio-ready leadership package for an agentic team you could realistically lead. After submission and structured peer review, the module closes the Professional Certificate with a wrap-up featuring an SME interview, a day-in-the-life view of an Agentic Team Manager, and guidance on presenting the capstone artifact in your portfolio, interviews, and LinkedIn profile.
