This course demonstrates how understanding this process allows us to predict the traits of offspring and analyze our own genetic heritage through pedigree analysis. By the end of this course, you will be able to apply the principles of inheritance to trace genetic traits through a family lineage.

  • Patterns of Inheritance
    • In this course, we’ll see how sexual reproduction creates the diversity of life we see. We’ll see how each sex cell produced, a gamete, represents a random assortment of the chromosomes of the original cell. Understanding this allows us to predict the offspring of another random process, fertilization. And this will lead us to understand our own genetic heritage through the use of pedigree analysis.
