Introduction

In this module, we will provide an overview of the course content, introduce you to the Power BI ecosystem, and guide you through installing Power BI Desktop. You’ll also get a comprehensive look at the end-to-end project you’ll be building, ensuring you understand how each concept fits into a real-world scenario. By the end of this module, you'll be ready to dive into hands-on learning with Power BI.

Getting Data into Power BI

In this module, we will explore the process of getting data into Power BI by connecting to a variety of data sources such as Excel, CSV, SQL Server, and web-based APIs. You will learn how to configure data source settings and choose the right data loading method (Import vs DirectQuery) based on the specifics of your project. This foundational skill will empower you to work with diverse datasets and set the stage for deeper analysis.

Data Cleaning & Transformation with Power Query

In this module, we will dive into the powerful data cleaning and transformation capabilities of Power Query. You’ll learn how to import data, transform it using a variety of techniques, and apply complex logic to shape your dataset. With hands-on examples, you will master techniques like creating custom columns, merging queries, and using M Code to execute advanced transformations.

Data Modelling & Relationships

In this module, we will focus on building a robust data model in Power BI, starting with the creation of relationships between different tables. You’ll gain an understanding of fact and dimension tables, and how to structure your data using star and snowflake schemas. This section ensures your data is well-organized for powerful analysis and reporting.

In this module, we will introduce you to the power of DAX in Power BI, which is essential for building dynamic reports and advanced calculations. We will cover a wide array of DAX functions, such as logical, date, and time functions, to enable you to create sophisticated measures and perform time-based analysis. By the end of this module, you'll be able to leverage DAX for complex calculations and analytics.

Visualization in Power BI

In this module, we will guide you through Power BI’s extensive visualization capabilities, teaching you how to create charts, graphs, maps, and more to represent your data. You'll learn how to design visually appealing reports, apply formatting, and create interactive features like slicers and drill-throughs. This section emphasizes the importance of data storytelling through compelling visuals.

AI in BI

In this module, we will explore how to enhance your Power BI reports with AI-powered visuals. You'll learn to use the Decomposition Tree to break down complex datasets, the Q&A visual for natural language queries, and the Smart Narrative to automatically generate insightful summaries. This section will introduce you to AI features that provide a more dynamic and interactive reporting experience.

Publishing & Sharing

In this module, we will teach you how to publish your Power BI reports to the Power BI Service and share them with others. You’ll explore workspace roles, create dashboards and apps, and understand how to schedule data refreshes to ensure your reports always display the latest information. This section ensures that your insights can be easily shared, accessed, and collaborated on within your team or organization.
