Strengthen your expertise in Active Directory (AD) with this comprehensive, hands-on course designed to prepare you for managing identity across both on-premises and cloud-connected environments. From traditional domain controllers to Azure AD and hybrid identity solutions, you’ll gain the skills to deploy, configure, and maintain a modern AD infrastructure with confidence. You’ll begin by exploring core Active Directory components, learning how to deploy and manage domain controllers in both on-premises environments and Microsoft Azure. Through practical demonstrations, you’ll configure FSMO roles, domain trusts, site links, and replication settings—building a solid foundation for more advanced hybrid scenarios. Next, you’ll dive into hybrid identity management, working with Azure AD, Azure AD Connect, and synchronization workflows. You’ll learn how to configure secure authentication strategies, manage health and monitoring, and ensure seamless identity integration across your hybrid environment. As you progress, you’ll gain hands-on experience with RODC deployment, Group Policy management, and user, group, and OU administration. You’ll also work with PowerShell, automating common AD tasks to streamline administration and support scalable, enterprise-ready workflows. By the end of this course, you will have: - Deployed and managed domain controllers in on-premises and Azure environments. - Configured FSMO roles, domain trusts, site configurations, and replication. - Implemented hybrid identity using Azure AD and Azure AD Connect. - Deployed and managed RODCs and applied Group Policies effectively. - Managed users, groups, and OUs with both GUI tools and PowerShell. - Developed the skills to troubleshoot, maintain, and optimize AD in hybrid setups. This course is ideal for IT professionals, system administrators, and cloud engineers looking to expand their skills in hybrid identity and Active Directory management. With practical, real-world scenarios throughout, you’ll be ready to apply your knowledge immediately in modern enterprise environments.

Syllabus

  • Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) Overview and Deployment
    • In this module, we will provide a foundational understanding of Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS). Through a series of demonstrations, you will explore AD DS components, functional roles, and the deployment of domain controllers in on-premises and Azure environments. Additionally, we will dive into FSMO roles and RODC deployment and configuration techniques.
  • Advanced AD DS Components and Trust Configurations
    • In this module, we will explore advanced Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) components, focusing on trust configurations, conditional forwarding, and child domains. You will gain practical experience in configuring and deploying different trust types to enhance the connectivity and security between domains in a hybrid AD environment.
  • Site and Replication Management
    • In this module, we will focus on managing Active Directory sites and replication. Through practical demos, you will learn to configure AD DS sites, site links, and subnets, optimizing replication strategies across your infrastructure. You will also explore the tools necessary for managing replication effectively across domains.
  • User and Group Management in AD DS
    • In this module, we will cover the management of users, groups, and organizational units (OUs) in AD DS. You will explore different approaches for managing users and groups, including PowerShell automation, and managing them in complex trust relationships or multi-forest environments.
  • Hybrid and Azure AD Integration
    • In this module, we will explore how to integrate on-premises AD DS with Azure AD and Azure AD DS. You will learn to deploy Azure AD DS, manage hybrid identity solutions using Azure AD Connect, and synchronize AD environments, ensuring seamless operations across both on-premises and cloud-based directories.
  • Group Policy and Security Management
    • In this module, we will delve into the administration of group policies and security settings within Active Directory. You will gain the skills needed to configure password policies, implement group policies in both AD DS and Azure AD DS, and utilize group policy preferences to enforce security standards across your hybrid IT environment.
