Build practical interior modeling skills by creating detailed kitchen and bathroom environments in Autodesk Maya. In this course, you will learn how to model essential architectural features, kitchen fixtures, appliances, and bathroom sanitary elements using industry-standard polygon modeling techniques. As you progress, you will create cabinets, drawers, sinks, faucets, refrigerators, microwave ovens, gas stoves, burners, water closets, wash basins, showers, and other interior components while developing clean, organized 3D scenes. Designed for aspiring 3D artists, interior designers, visualization professionals, and Autodesk Maya learners, this course provides a structured, hands-on approach to creating realistic interior assets. You will apply extrusion, duplication, subdivision, edge-loop refinement, curve-based modeling, and reference-based workflows to produce accurate models with clean geometry and logical organization. The course also emphasizes efficient scene management by organizing object hierarchies, grouping assets, and refining architectural elements such as windows for improved visual presentation. By the end of the course, you will have a fully modeled, organized, and render-ready kitchen and bathroom interior that demonstrates practical Autodesk Maya interior modeling techniques and can be used for visualization or portfolio development.

Syllabus

  • Foundations of Interior Modeling
    • This module introduces learners to the foundational techniques of interior modeling within Autodesk Maya, focusing on the kitchen environment. It begins with setting up the workspace and understanding the core layout of kitchen and bathroom interiors. Learners will construct the kitchen base platform and structure functional components such as cabinet divisions and drawers. Emphasis is placed on practical polygon modeling, duplication strategies, and spatial organization to form the groundwork for detailed interior asset creation in subsequent modules.
  • Kitchen Fixtures and Appliances
    • This module guides learners through the modeling of key kitchen fixtures and appliances using Autodesk Maya. Beginning with the construction of a detailed sink and faucet, the lessons progress into modeling common kitchen appliances including a microwave oven and a refrigerator. Learners apply polygon modeling techniques such as extrusion, curve-based shaping, subdivision, and edge-loop detailing to create accurate, production-ready assets with clean geometry and logical structure. The focus remains on maintaining form, adding realism through proper edge support, and leveraging reference images for dimensional accuracy.
  • Cooking Area and Fixtures
    • This module focuses on modeling the core cooking equipment within a kitchen interior using Maya’s polygon modeling tools. Learners will construct a detailed gas stove complete with burners and protection rings, employing techniques such as face extrusion, scaling, and edge-loop control. The module further refines component modeling by introducing curved extrusions and custom shapes like knobs, emphasizing structural clarity and visual accuracy. These assets contribute to a fully realized and functionally organized kitchen scene.
  • Bathroom Essentials and Detailing
    • This module focuses on modeling essential bathroom fixtures and environmental elements using precise polygonal techniques in Maya. Learners will create a complete set of bathroom assets—including a water closet, wall-mounted wash basin, and curved-pipe shower fixture—using reference-based modeling, extrusion, and curve-based operations. The module also covers practical scene organization and visual privacy detailing by modifying elements such as window frames. This ensures a complete, functional, and visually cohesive bathroom layout ready for rendering or further design iterations.
