This course gives you a practical foundation in Python, one of the world's most popular programming languages and a good place to start if you've never written code before. We'll learn how to store and display information with variables and strings, capture input from users, and work with collections of data using lists and tuples. We'll also cover conditionals and loops for controlling how a program runs, functions for writing code you can reuse, and error handling so your programs don't fall over when someone types the wrong thing. Along the way, you'll build real working applications, including an expense splitter, a word scrambler game, and a karaoke queue manager. Python's clear, readable syntax means you can focus on how programming actually works instead of fighting the language itself. If you've tried coding before and bounced off it, this course moves at a pace that lets concepts settle before building on them, and every idea gets applied to something you can run and see. If you're coming in with some experience, the projects will give you patterns worth having in your toolkit and a clean mental model of the fundamentals that plenty of self-taught developers never quite nail down. Python is used across web development, automation, data science, and artificial intelligence, so wherever you want to take this next, what you learn here will carry through.

Syllabus

  • Python Fundamentals
    • Learn Python fundamentals including variables, strings, user input, arithmetic, type conversion, and f- strings while building a practical app that calculates and displays a shared expense split.
  • Python Fundamentals - Test Your Knowledge!
