This course introduces the SOAR component of Google SecOps, guiding learners through setup, response automation, and reporting. With demos, hands-on examples, and quizzes, participants will learn how to simplify investigations and make day-to-day security operations more efficient. The course is designed around short videos, averaging about five minutes each, divided into granular topics to support different learning styles and fit into the time learners have available.

Syllabus

  • Intro to SOAR
    • This module introduces learners to the fundamentals of Google SecOps SOAR, starting with why SOAR matters and the key terminology used across the platform. It also explores the Content Hub, response integrations, environments, and the building blocks of playbooks, preparing learners for more advanced topics in later modules. Lessons are sometimes supported by short demos and the module ends with a short knowledge test to reinforce learning.
  • SOAR Setup
    • This module provides a practical introduction to configuring Google SecOps SOAR for effective operations. Learners will explore ingestion methods such as connectors and webhooks, environment setup, and role-based access controls, while also gaining familiarity with alert grouping, ontology, and default case views. The content combines foundational knowledge with hands-on configuration to prepare learners for real-world SOAR deployments.
  • SOAR Response
    • This module focuses on building and executing automated responses in Google SecOps SOAR. Learners will gain hands-on experience with playbook construction, actions, placeholders, flows, and blocks, while also exploring case management, workdesk functionality, search capabilities, and the integrated development environment (IDE).
  • SOAR Reporting
    • This module introduces visualization and reporting capabilities in Google SecOps SOAR. Learners will explore dashboards, standard reports, and advanced reporting features to monitor operations and demonstrate security outcomes.
