In this course, you will apply intermediate English to sustainability and earth science topics. In the sustainability unit, you will examine environmental issues such as water scarcity, space debris, and coral reef decline, along with proposed solutions. You will practice reported speech to present researched information accurately and study the structure of problem/solution essays, including support paragraphs and outlines. In the earth science unit, you will compare Earth and Mars, including physical features, atmospheres, and habitability. You will use compare and contrast transition words and phrases, then outline and compose a point-by-point compare/contrast essay. Across the course, vocabulary practice, listening and reading activities, writing practice, reflections, assessments, essay work, and self-evaluation help you connect academic content with clear English writing.
