You're spending more time on camera than ever, and video makes it hard to feel like yourself. That disconnect isn't a personality flaw; it's a predictable, learnable gap between how you show up in person and what a screen lets through. You'll pinpoint the biological, technological, and personal barriers that make video feel harder than face-to-face connection. From there, you'll build a pre-event routine that steadies your agenda, energy, and environment, then practice the on-camera habits, from eye-line technique to handling the unexpected, that let your real personality come through. You'll also pick up specific ways to keep an audience engaged while you're live, and a simple routine for following up afterward so a good video event keeps paying off. By the end of this course, you'll show up on video with the same warmth, humor, and creative instincts that come naturally to you in person, and you'll know how to close out any video event so its impact lasts well after the call ends.

Syllabus

  • Recognizing the Barriers to Being Yourself on Video
    • You already sense that something feels off about being on camera, even when you can't quite name why. In this module, you'll identify the biological, technological, and personal barriers that make video feel harder than face-to-face connection, so you can stop mistaking a universal human response for a personal failing.
  • Showing Up as Your Authentic, Creative Self on Video
    • You already have specific, genuine things about yourself that make you interesting, and a natural zone of creative problem-solving you rely on every day, even if you've never called it that. In this module, you'll identify authentic details about yourself and transferable creative skills, then apply both to your presence on video so your calls feel less scripted and more like you.
  • Preparing for an Online Video Event
    • You know the feeling of walking into a video event unprepared: a scrambled agenda, empty energy, lighting that refuses to cooperate, and it always shows. In this module, you'll build a structured routine covering your agenda, your energy, your environment, and your rehearsal, so you walk into your next video event steady and ready instead of scrambling.
  • Engaging Your Audience During a Live Video Event
    • You can start a video event strong and still lose your audience the moment silence sets in or something goes wrong, and getting people re-engaged after that is far harder than keeping them engaged from the start. In this module, you'll apply specific techniques for opening strong, creating a memorable experience, and staying composed when things go sideways, so your live video events hold attention from the first minute to the last.
  • Following Up and Reflecting After a Video Event
    • The value of a good video event doesn't end when you click "leave meeting"; how you recover, follow up, and reflect afterward determines whether that impact actually lasts. In this module, you'll apply a structured routine for relaxing, reflecting, and rewarding yourself, following up promptly, and recommitting to what you've learned, so your video events keep paying off well after they end.
  • Conclusion
    • Finishing this course doesn't mean you've arrived at some fixed, finished version of yourself on camera; it means you now have a foundation to keep building on. In this module, you'll apply a plan for continued growth, studying speakers you admire, exploring further resources, and committing to specific next steps, so the progress you've made here keeps compounding after the course ends.
