Overview

GCP: Compute Services is the second course of Exam Prep: Google Cloud Certified Associate Cloud Engineer Specialization. This course begins with Google Compute Engine, covering machine types, images, pricing, billing, and preemptible VM instances with practical demos. Learners explore the gcloud CLI for instance deployment and understand the use of instance groups. The course then delves into managed and serverless services, including Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), with emphasis on private clusters, Autopilot mode, image creation, and app deployment. The course is divided into two modules, and Lessons and Video Lectures further segment each module. This course facilitates learners with approximately 2:00-2:30 Hours of Video lectures that provide both Theory and Hands-On knowledge. Also, Graded and Ungraded Quizzes are provided with every module to test the ability of learners. - Module 1: Compute in Google Cloud - Module 2: Managed Compute Services in Google Cloud The course is designed for professionals and learners aiming to master GCP architecture and services. Welcome to Week 1. This week, we’ll explore Compute Engine, then dive into the various machine types and custom images that provide flexibility for different workloads. We'll learn how GCP pricing and billing work, enabling you to optimize costs effectively. Through practical demos, we’ll walk through the process of launching virtual machines and managing their lifecycle. We'll also introduce preemptible VM instances—cost-effective options for batch and fault-tolerant workloads. You'll gain hands-on experience with gcloud, GCP’s command-line interface, and learn how to deploy compute instances using it. Finally, we’ll cover instance groups, which help scale applications and ensure availability through load balancing and auto-healing. By the end of this module, you’ll be equipped to deploy and manage scalable, cost-efficient compute infrastructure on GCP.

Managed Compute Services in Google Cloud

Welcome to Week 2. This week, we’ll explore Google Cloud's Managed and Serverless offerings, understanding their advantages and use cases. We’ll then introduce Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), including an overview of GKE, Private Clusters, and Autopilot mode. Following this, we’ll shift to Google App Engine, covering its configuration via app.yaml, components, cron jobs, and advanced features like traffic splitting with hands-on demonstrations. You’ll also examine Google Cloud Run and Cloud Functions, gaining a practical understanding of their deployment models. Finally, we’ll compare Cloud Functions, App Engine, and Cloud Run to help you choose the right service for your application needs. By the end of the week, you’ll be equipped to deploy scalable, serverless solutions on Google Cloud.
