Excel: Data Analysis and Visualization Fundamentals

Overview

This course will be useful for anyone who has a foundational knowledge of Excel and would like to perform more robust and advanced data analysis. You will begin by performing fundamental data-analysis tasks like creating tables and sorting and filtering data. You'll also start visualizing data with Excel through charts. This is the first course in a multi-course Specialization. All of the courses in this Specialization require that you have a recent version of Microsoft Excel installed. The course setup instructions provided in the first module of this course go into more detail about the hardware and software requirements.

Data Analysis Fundamentals

Embracing data analysis as part of a job role requires that you grasp fundamental concepts about data science, data analysis, and visualization. It also requires an understanding of the core data organization and segmentation capabilities in Excel. In this lesson, you'll perform fundamental data analysis tasks in Microsoft® Excel®.

Visualizing Data with Excel

Microsoft® Excel® provides you with powerful features to help organize and analyze data, but once your analysis is complete, you have to communicate your findings. The people you report or present data to might not have the same comfort level or expertise when it comes to viewing worksheets. Further, viewing rows of numbers in tables is not a natural way for people to process information. To communicate effectively, you need to provide a simple, easy-to-digest view of relevant data so your audience can quickly understand what's really important.
