Dynatrace Masterclass – The Complete Guide for Beginners is a beginner-friendly course for DevOps engineers, SREs, IT operations professionals, and cloud architects who want to master AI-powered observability and performance monitoring. As enterprises adopt cloud-native, containerized, and microservices-based architectures, the need for real-time monitoring and automated root cause analysis has never been greater. This course equips you with the foundational skills to set up and manage end-to-end observability using Dynatrace. You'll learn to deploy OneAgent and ActiveGate, navigate the Smartscape topology, analyze service dependencies, and leverage PurePath distributed tracing for deep diagnostics. Through a mix of guided tutorials, case studies, and hands-on practice, you'll build expertise in monitoring applications, infrastructure, and user experience across hybrid and multi-cloud environments. Beyond setup, the course introduces governance and automation practices, including role-based access controls, tagging strategies, and Davis AI for anomaly detection and alerting. Whether you're just starting your journey with observability or looking to strengthen your DevOps toolkit, this course will help you confidently deploy, monitor, and optimize systems with Dynatrace—ensuring resilience, scalability, and business continuity.

Syllabus

  • Lesson 1: DynaTrace Fundamentals and Core Concepts
    • In this foundational lesson, learners will gain a deep understanding of DynaTrace’s architecture, deployment models, and core capabilities for full-stack observability. They'll explore how DynaTrace collects, processes, and visualizes telemetry data across applications, infrastructure, and user sessions. Learners will be introduced to Smartscape topology mapping, PurePath distributed tracing, and Davis AI for automated root cause analysis. Through guided demos and hands-on exercises, learners will practice navigating the DynaTrace interface, interpreting key dashboards, and setting up initial monitoring for a sample application.
  • Lesson 2: Dynatrace Deployment and Monitoring Workflows
    • This lesson guides learners through the practical setup and configuration of Dynatrace across different environments. They’ll explore OneAgent deployment options, including cloud-native and hybrid models, and learn how to connect infrastructure, applications, and user sessions to the Dynatrace platform. Learners will practice setting up monitoring for services, processes, and hosts, while understanding the automated discovery and dependency mapping that feeds into Smartscape. Real-world workflows—such as creating dashboards, configuring alerts, and integrating with CI/CD pipelines—will illustrate how Dynatrace translates raw telemetry into actionable insights for day-to-day operations.
  • Lesson 3: Implementing Dynatrace in Real Environments
    • In this final lesson, learners will apply everything they've learned about observability, safety constraints, and monitoring to implement Dynatrace in real-world scenarios. They'll gain experience with environment setup, agent deployment, and integrating Dynatrace with CI/CD pipelines. The lesson also covers strategies for configuring alerts, scaling monitoring across hybrid and multi-cloud environments, and aligning performance metrics with business outcomes. The lesson culminates in a hands-on capstone activity where learners design and deploy a Dynatrace monitoring framework for a sample enterprise application, demonstrating their ability to move from conceptual understanding to practical implementation.
