Develop your Microsoft Excel skills for preparing, analyzing, and working with business data. In this course, you will learn to use text functions to clean and standardize inconsistent data, date and time functions to create timelines and calculate time-based metrics, and logical functions to automate decisions and generate new information within datasets. Through practical business scenarios, you will apply functions such as IF, IFS, AND, and OR to transform data and support more reliable analysis. By the end of the course, you will be able to use Excel functions to improve data quality, create time-based calculations, and automate logic-driven tasks in spreadsheets.

Syllabus

  • Using Functions to Clean and Standardize Text
    • This module introduces common text functions that help prepare Excel data for analysis. You will learn how inconsistent data can affect analysis outcomes and how to use text functions to standardize data for reliable downstream use.
  • Date and Time Functions
    • This module introduces date and time functions in Excel. You will learn why understanding date calculations is important for business analysis, how to create dynamic date and time entries, and how to use date functions to calculate working days and other time-based metrics.
  • Logical Functions
    • This module introduces logical functions in Excel. You will learn how to use the IF function, nested IF and IFS functions, and AND and OR functions to generate new content and automate decision-making within datasets. A hands-on exercise applies the IFS function to a real business data scenario.
