Overview

You'll learn how to recognize threats, avoid common traps, and use today's digital tools—including artificial intelligence (AI)—more safely. Whether you're in the office, at home, or on the move, you'll walk away from this course with the confidence to use technology more securely. And, you'll have the knowledge and skills to contribute to a strong culture of cybersecurity wherever you work. This course is designed for all users of computers, mobile devices, networks, and the Internet, to enable them to use technology more securely and minimize digital risks, regardless of technical ability. This course is also designed to assist students in preparing for the CertNexus® CyberSAFE® (Exam CBS-510): Cyber Safety in the Age of AI credential. In this course, you will: use technology, including generative artificial intelligence (AI), responsibly; resist social-engineering attacks; secure devices such as desktops, laptops, tablets, smartphones, and more; and use the Internet securely.

Using Technology Responsibly

In most jurisdictions, the law requires you to use a seatbelt while driving. Even if it were not a legal requirement, most people would probably wear a seatbelt anyway, because it's an important part of being a responsible driver. Using computing technology is no different—you're obligated to use it responsibly, whether due to regulations, organization policies, or just a general desire to act safely and securely. In this lesson, you'll ensure your use of technology—including artificial intelligence (AI)—follows this mindset.

Resisting Social-Engineering Attacks

Believe it or not, the weakest links in all of cybersecurity are usually the users themselves. Social engineering in the technology realm makes it easier for attackers to safely conduct attacks remotely, by phone, or over the Internet—all while avoiding technical cybersecurity defenses.

Securing Devices

Technology is all around us, and it's getting ever more personalized and individualized. As a result, some of the responsibility for the security of these devices has shifted from IT personnel to everyday users.

Using the Internet Securely

The Internet is an excellent place to conduct business, research information, or seek entertainment. It can also be a dangerous place for the careless or unwary. As you browse the web, send email, interact through social networking, use cloud services, or work remotely, you must learn how to protect yourself, your data, and your devices.
