Syllabus

  • Foundations of Variable Costing and CVP Concepts
    • This module introduces learners to the core principles of variable costing and Cost-Volume-Profit (CVP) analysis, two essential tools in managerial accounting. Learners will explore how variable costing differs from absorption costing and understand how costs are classified into variable and fixed components. The module explains how contribution margin helps businesses analyze profitability and make informed decisions. Additionally, learners will study the assumptions and applications of CVP analysis to understand how sales volume, cost behavior, and pricing decisions influence profit. By the end of this module, learners will gain the foundational knowledge needed to interpret contribution margins, evaluate cost structures, and apply CVP concepts in business planning and operational decision-making.
  • Cost Determination and Leverage Analysis
    • This module focuses on advanced analytical tools used in financial and managerial decision-making. Learners will explore how to calculate key CVP components such as fixed costs, profit targets, and margin of safety through practical examples and numerical applications. The module then introduces leverage analysis, including operating leverage, financial leverage, and combined leverage. These concepts help organizations understand how cost structures and financing decisions affect business risk and profitability. Learners will also examine how leverage impacts earnings and how firms evaluate financing alternatives using concepts such as the indifference point. By completing this module, learners will develop the ability to analyze financial risk, interpret leverage ratios, and apply these tools for strategic financial planning.
