Build job-ready skills employers need with this IBM Cloud Operations, Monitoring, Security and Compliance course. Ideal for professionals looking to become a hybrid cloud architect or systems architect. You’ll learn how to manage hybrid cloud operations, implement multicloud monitoring, and secure cloud infrastructure at scale. You’ll build in-demand skills in cloud operations management, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), and Infrastructure as Code (IaC), enabling you to operate, automate, and optimize enterprise cloud environments. Plus, through practical labs, you’ll apply Service-Level Indicators (SLIs), Service-Level Objectives (SLOs), and error budgets to improve reliability while designing monitoring and observability solutions using Prometheus, Grafana, and AWS CloudWatch. You’ll also implement identity and access management (IAM), along with zero trust security models, and enforce data encryption, while aligning architectures with SOC 2, GDPR, and HIPAA requirements. In the final project, you’ll then integrate operations, monitoring, and security into cohesive hybrid cloud architecture. Enroll now to build job-ready cloud operations skills and advance your career.

Syllabus

  • Hybrid Cloud Deployment and Automation
    • In this module, you will learn how automation drives operational efficiency in a hybrid cloud. You'll compare Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and Ansible, explore automated deployments and rollbacks, and practice debugging automation errors through a role-play and a dialogue. You will also evaluate best practices for applying IaC in multicloud environments.
  • Hybrid Cloud Operations
    • In this module, you will explore roles, principles, and practices related to hybrid cloud and multicloud operations. You'll examine how Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) roles, security practices, and learn how SRE principles apply to hybrid cloud operations. Then, activities such as role-plays and dialogues will enable you to define service-level indicators (SLIs) and objectives (SLOs), and how to use error budgets to guide trade-offs between reliability and velocity. You will also analyze hybrid cloud roles and responsibilities, and practice designing operational strategies for hybrid workloads.
  • Monitoring, Logging, and Observability in Hybrid Cloud
    • In this module, you will learn how to design monitoring and observability strategies in hybrid cloud systems. You will explore metrics, logs, and traces, and practice building dashboards and configuring alerts through interactivities such as role-plays and dialogues. You'll also study common challenges such as alert fatigue and monitoring blind spots.
  • Hybrid Cloud Security and Compliance
    • In this module, you will analyze how hybrid cloud architectures address security and compliance challenges. You will study IAM, encryption, and zero-trust architectures and explore compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, GDPR, and HIPAA. Through role-plays and dialogues, you will explore mapping compliance requirements and configuring policies across multiple providers.
  • Final Project, Final Exam, and Course Wrap-Up
    • This final module brings together all the skills you've developed. You'll design a hybrid cloud architecture that balances operations, monitoring, security, and compliance. Using a realistic case study, you'll analyze requirements, propose design options, and present a final plan that demonstrates your readiness for professional cloud-operations roles.
