This course will be useful to anyone looking to become an entry-level network administrator. You will learn basic concepts related to networking, like topologies, models, and protocols. You'll also configure switching using techniques like virtual local area networks (VLANs). Then, you'll configure IP addressing using IPv4 and IPv6, and configure static and dynamic routing. This is the first course in a multi-course Specialization. All of the courses in this Specialization are meant to be used alongside the optional Boson NetSim® labs, which are sold separately on the Logical Operations store: https://store.logicaloperations.com/cisco-solutions-implementation-and-administration-ccna-200-301-lab-environment.html. Use of these labs is optional, although they are highly recommended due to the significant benefit that hands-on practices brings to the learning experience.

Syllabus

  • Networking Fundamentals
    • Basic knowledge of networking types, components, models, protocols, and terminology is necessary if you want to implement and administer Cisco® networks.
  • Configuring Switching
    • Networks require connectivity devices to transfer data among users. The most straightforward network device for LANs is the switch.
  • Configuring IP Addressing
    • You have configured switches, which work at Layer 2 (and 3) of the OSI model. Moving up the protocol stack, you need to be able to configure the addressing used by routers before you start configuring the routers themselves.
  • Configuring Routing
    • Switches and routers are prevalent on practically all networks. While both devices use different addresses, processes, and protocols, they both move data across a network or internetwork. Now that you have configured switches, it should be a bit easier for you to configure routers.
  • Completing the Course
    • You'll wrap things up and then validate what you've learned in this course by taking an assessment.
