Business Data Visualization teaches learners how to transform data into clear, meaningful visualizations that support better business decisions. Through hands-on practice, learners explore how to select the appropriate charts and graphs, create visualizations in Microsoft Excel, and apply design principles that improve clarity and communication.
Throughout the course, learners build practical skills creating line graphs, bar graphs, histograms, pie charts, and scatter plots while learning to interpret trends, compare values, and identify relationships within data. They also gain experience evaluating which visualizations are most appropriate for different business scenarios and communicating insights through well-designed reports.
By the end of the course, learners will confidently create, interpret, and present business data visualizations that help stakeholders understand information and make informed decisions.
Syllabus
- Data visualization
- Clear and effective data visualizations help transform complex information into insights that others can quickly understand and act on. In this module, you'll explore how to select appropriate charts and graphs, create visualizations in Excel, and apply design principles that improve clarity and highlight key messages. Through hands-on practice, you'll learn how to present data in ways that support effective communication and informed business decision-making. Keep your audience in mind as you build each visualization. A well-designed chart helps readers identify important insights quickly, without having to search for them.
Module Objective: Create graphs and charts that accurately and clearly represent data to support business decision-making
- Interpreting data visualizations
- Data visualizations are only valuable when you can interpret the information they communicate. In this module, you'll explore how to analyze line graphs, bar charts, histograms, pie charts, and scatter plots to identify trends, compare values, and recognize relationships within data. Through guided practice, you'll build the skills needed to extract meaningful insights from visualizations and apply them to business decision-making. As you review each visualization, take a moment to identify the main takeaway before focusing on the details. Building this habit will help you recognize patterns more quickly and communicate data-driven insights with greater confidence.
Module Objective: Analyze graphs and charts, including line graphics, bar charts, and histograms, to extract information
