You'll learn how to protect cloud storage with access controls, encryption, key management, and secure storage practices while implementing industry-recommended security measures. Designed for cloud engineers, security professionals, developers, and solutions architects, this course combines expert-led video lessons with hands-on demonstrations to help you safeguard sensitive information throughout its lifecycle using AWS storage and encryption services. Why Learn This Course? Protecting data is one of the most critical responsibilities in cloud computing. AWS offers powerful storage security and encryption services that enable organizations to secure sensitive information, meet compliance requirements, and reduce security risks. Whether you're preparing for an AWS certification or enhancing your cloud security expertise, this course provides practical knowledge for implementing secure storage and encryption strategies on AWS. Course Modules Module 1: Amazon S3 Security Module 2: AWS Key Management & Encryption in Practice

Syllabus

  • Amazon S3 Security
    • In this section, you'll build a strong foundation in Amazon S3 security and learn how to protect data stored in AWS using secure access controls, encryption, and data protection features. You'll begin with a quick recap of Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) before exploring the mechanisms used to control access to S3 resources, including Access Control Lists (ACLs) and bucket policies, helping you understand how to securely manage permissions for objects and buckets. As you progress, you'll gain hands-on experience implementing Amazon S3 security features through practical demonstrations. You'll learn how to encrypt data stored in Amazon S3 to protect sensitive information, generate pre-signed URLs to provide secure, time-limited access to objects, and configure Cross-Region Replication (CRR) to improve data availability, resilience, and disaster recovery. The section further introduces Amazon S3 Glacier, enabling you to understand how AWS provides secure, durable, and cost-effective archival storage for long-term data retention and compliance requirements. You'll also explore best practices for securing Amazon S3 storage while maintaining data accessibility and durability across AWS environments. By the end of this section, you'll have a solid understanding of Amazon S3 security features, including access control, encryption, secure object sharing, replication, and archival storage, enabling you to implement secure and resilient storage solutions on AWS.
  • AWS Key Management & Encryption in Practice
    • In this section, you'll build a strong foundation in AWS encryption and key management, learning how to protect sensitive data using AWS cryptographic services and security best practices. You'll begin by exploring AWS Key Management Service (KMS) and gain an understanding of how encryption keys are created, managed, and used to secure data across AWS services while maintaining centralized control over key usage. As you progress, you'll gain hands-on experience working with AWS KMS through practical demonstrations. You'll learn how to create and manage customer-managed keys, configure key policies, apply policy conditions and grants, and control access to encryption keys. You'll also discover how AWS KMS integrates with Amazon S3 and Amazon EBS to provide seamless encryption for data at rest and explore how VPC endpoints enable secure communication with AWS KMS without traversing the public internet. The section further introduces AWS CloudHSM and AWS Certificate Manager (ACM), helping you understand how dedicated hardware security modules provide enhanced cryptographic key protection and how SSL/TLS certificates can be provisioned and managed to secure applications and communications. Together, these services enable you to implement comprehensive encryption and key management strategies across AWS environments. By the end of this section, you'll have a solid understanding of AWS encryption and key management services, including AWS KMS, AWS CloudHSM, and AWS Certificate Manager, enabling you to securely manage cryptographic keys, protect sensitive data, and implement encryption best practices across AWS workloads.
