Adobe® Photoshop® CC: Part 1 focuses on some of the basic features of Photoshop so that the student can navigate the environment and use Photoshop tools to work with photographic images. In addition, the orientation to Adobe® Bridge and organization of files in Bridge is covered. Although Photoshop is used by a variety of professionals, from photographers to designers to videographers, Photoshop Part 1 will focus mainly on the photography component. The illustration and animation techniques are covered in subsequent levels of Photoshop. This course is a great component of your preparation for the Adobe Certified Professional (ACP) in Visual Design Using Adobe Photoshop exam. Target students include professional or amateur photographers who want to use the robust features of Photoshop to enhance, modify, and organize their photographs, and anyone interested in working toward the Visual Design Using Adobe Photoshop certification. In this course, you will: identify the components and capabilities of Photoshop; create basic images; manage selections and layers; modify and repair images, and manage colors; refine images by adjusting layers, using camera raw, and applying advanced image refinement; and import, export, organize, and save files. This course requires that you have Adobe Photoshop installed on a Windows PC. The course setup instructions provided in the first module of the course go into more detail about the hardware and software requirements.

Syllabus

  • Getting Started with Photoshop
    • Being able to take good photographs is no longer restricted to professionals thanks to automatic settings of digital cameras, which allow you to shoot hundreds of pictures with ease and speed. Of course, even with camera advancements, many photos need adjustment to become the picture you envisioned when you took it. That's where Adobe® Photoshop® tools can help you to make your photos more professional and appealing.
  • Creating Basic Images
    • You have identified the main components of the Adobe® Photoshop® workspace and experienced some of its navigational techniques. You also partnered Adobe Bridge with Photoshop for viewing and opening files.
  • Managing Selections and Layers
    • Now that you have reviewed image basics, you are ready to begin using some of the tools that make Adobe® Photoshop® such a powerful image editor. This includes the variety of selection tools that each perform a unique function. In addition, you will be introduced to layers and why they are invaluable for working with graphic images.
  • Adjusting Images
    • Adobe® Photoshop® is a powerful program for a variety of creative solutions, one being the tools and features it offers for making adjustments to graphic images. Whether it's a simple resizing adjustment, or a major repair to restore an image, you'll find the methods and techniques for improving your images are well worth learning and using Photoshop.
  • Refining Images
    • Adobe® Photoshop® is a powerful program for a variety of creative solutions. Its tools and features offer valuable options for editing and adjusting graphic images. Whether it's a simple resizing adjustment or a major repair to restore an image, you'll find the methods and techniques for improving your images are well worth learning and using Photoshop.
  • Managing Files in a Production Workflow
    • Mobile devices and social media have made it so easy to send and view graphic images without ever having to print them. It's easy to share photos, but it's important to know how to prepare and save images intended for the web—and even more important when preparing images for print. You've put the effort into enhancing your images with Adobe® Photoshop®, and now you need to know how to optimize them for web and print.
  • Completing the Course
    • You'll wrap things up and then validate what you've learned in this course by taking an assessment.
