By the end of this course, you’ll be able to play rhythm and lead guitar parts from two original rock tracks by professional guitarist, singer, and producer Martin Miller. Designed for guitarists who want to strengthen their rock guitar skills, this course combines practical techniques with real songs to help you build confidence and expand your repertoire. Martin breaks down his original tracks, “High Voltage” and “Amped Up,” teaching you the fundamentals of rock guitar through the songs themselves. You’ll master open and power chords, explore riffs and chord arpeggiation, and develop lead guitar techniques like string bending and palm muting. You’ll also learn how to approach new rock tracks with greater ease and add two complete songs to your repertoire. To be successful in this course, you should have basic guitar skills, including tuning your guitar, reading tablature, counting rhythms, and strumming basic open chords such as E minor and G major. You’ll need an electric guitar, an amp, and your preferred guitar accessories. What makes this course unique is Martin’s professional experience and his hands-on approach to teaching rock guitar through two of his own tracks.

Syllabus

Get Started with Rock Guitar
- Start building your rock guitar foundation with Martin Miller. You’ll get oriented to the course, prepare your guitar, and explore the fundamentals of rhythm guitar through “High Voltage.” You’ll develop your strumming and open-chord skills while seeing how these techniques come together in a professional rock performance.
Master Rhythm Guitar Techniques
- Build on your rhythm guitar foundation by adding power chords, melodic playing, and more advanced chord techniques. Martin breaks down the sounds and techniques behind “Amped Up,” helping you understand how rhythm and lead parts work together to create a complete rock guitar performance.
Explore Riffs, Lead Guitar & Soloing
- Take your rock guitar playing further by developing the techniques that give rock its energy and personality. You’ll explore palm muting, single-note riffs, lead guitar techniques, and soloing, building the skills and confidence to move beyond basic guitar parts and play with greater expression.
Practice & Perform Your Rock Guitar Skills
- Put everything you’ve learned into practice. Use the slow playthroughs of “High Voltage” and “Amped Up” to improve your accuracy and confidence, then challenge yourself with the extreme solo from “Amped Up.” This final module gives you the opportunity to bring your rhythm, lead, and soloing skills together in performance.
