Motion graphics, also known as motion design, sits at the intersection of video editing, animation, and graphic design. Creating compelling motion graphics requires technical proficiency with industry software, a strong command of motion design workflow, an awareness of evolving visual trends, and the ability to give and receive meaningful critiques of your own work and that of your collaborators.
Build Your Portfolio Through Individualized Instruction:
This intensive, project-driven course takes your existing software and design skills to a professional level. You will study the principles of motion design and learn best practices for moving from concept to completion, producing portfolio-quality work that demonstrates your range to potential clients and employers.
What You Will Create:
Throughout the course, you will complete several portfolio projects, including a logo animation, a social media advertisement, an infographic animation, and a book or film trailer. Assignments receive critique from both the instructor and your peers, and you will revise your work based on that feedback. The expectation is that students will work outside of class hours as needed. By the end of the course, you should have at least three finished, polished motion graphics animations in your portfolio. The instructor remains available during and between sessions to provide guidance and feedback throughout the process.
Prior experience with Adobe Photoshop, After Effects, and foundational graphic design skills is required. Familiarity with Adobe Illustrator, Premiere Pro, and basic sound editing is strongly recommended.
Prerequisites:
This course uses Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro. Students should have knowledge equivalent to our After Effects Bootcamp and Premiere Pro Bootcamp before enrolling.
Topics Covered at a Glance:
- Advanced motion graphics concepts and professional workflows
- Refining and expanding your animation skills
