This six-month workshop is specifically designed for fine art photographers who are serious about building a professional portfolio. Working collaboratively as a group and pursuing individual artistic vision, participants will develop the highest quality presentation that aligns with each photographer's unique artistic sensibilities and target professional audience, which may include gallerists, art directors, or fine art curators seeking new talent.
The course combines monthly intensive critiques with detailed editing and sequencing sessions. Each class includes comprehensive instruction on individual artist branding, crafting compelling artist statements, and strategic portfolio presentation. Classes begin with in-depth facilitated discussions on each of these essential topics, followed by collaborative viewing and evaluation of student work, goal setting, and establishment of monthly objectives. The workshop leverages the group dynamic by involving every student in constructive critique sessions, creating a supportive and encouraging community where photographers can learn from one another and grow together.
Through this comprehensive process, students gain invaluable experience presenting and discussing their photographic work before an audience of peers and instructors, and learn how to benefit from thoughtful, constructive criticism and professional feedback. Monthly assignments support each student's portfolio development and encourage artistic growth. A photographer's portfolio often serves as their primary professional introduction to potential clients and collaborators. Upon completion of this course, you will have developed a distinctive portfolio that reflects your personal vision, demonstrates consistency and individual voice, and is something you can be genuinely proud of.
