Learn the craft of writing humorous and entertaining lyrics while composing original songs on the spot, developing your ability to create laughter and delight through spontaneous musical composition.
Throughout this dynamic class, you will develop and practice a comprehensive range of songwriting skills, including rhyming techniques, song creation using forward and backward methods, narrative structures, joke-based forms, song construction and arrangement, improvisation across various musical genres, adapting lyrics to existing melodies, composing entirely new songs from initial concept, and writing parodies on demand. As your skills progress, you will build the foundation necessary to eventually create an entire musical production based solely on an audience suggestion.
Each class session combines reinforcement of previously mastered techniques alongside introduction of new creative challenges. Month after month, you will encounter both returning familiar participants and exciting new talented students, creating a dynamic learning community.
Students of all skill levels are welcome to join this inclusive workshop. Prior singing experience or ability is not required to participate and benefit from the course.
