Overview

The Power Platform empowers organizations to automate business processes, develop rich custom applications, and engage with customers more effectively. This course teaches you to perform discovery, gather requirements, work with stakeholders, and configure comprehensive Power Platform solutions and applications. Through hands-on labs, you'll create application enhancements, custom user experiences, system integrations, data transformations, process automation, and custom visualizations. Power Platform comprises four core products, Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, and Power Virtual Agents, all covered in depth, along with Microsoft Dataverse, AI Builder, connectors, and portal development.

Your Role as a Functional Consultant:

A Power Platform Functional Consultant performs discovery, captures requirements, engages subject matter experts and stakeholders, translates business needs, and configures tailored Power Platform solutions. You'll implement solution components, including application enhancements, custom user experiences, system integrations, data migrations, custom process automation, and data visualization solutions.

Core Skills You'll Develop:

  • Work collaboratively with organizations to gather requirements and implement Power Platform solutions
  • Build model-driven, canvas-based, and portal applications
  • Create and manage Power Automate flows for automation
  • Design simple chatbots using Power Virtual Agents
  • Analyze data and create visualizations using Power BI dashboards

Prerequisites:

You should have experience as an IT professional or student, working knowledge of the Power Platform and its key components, and familiarity with Microsoft Dataverse or general data modeling concepts, along with security principles.

Course Topics Overview:

Module 1: Introduction to the Power Platform provides background on the Power Platform and its four core components, Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, and Power Virtual Agents, including platform overview and lab environment validation.

Module 2: The Functional Consultant Role covers the consultant role, required skills, documentation creation, stakeholder engagement, quality assurance, and configuration integration.

Module 3: Work with Dataverse teaches data modeling in Microsoft Dataverse, importing data, tabular reporting options, security configuration, creating processes, working with AI Builder, and configuring Dataverse settings.

Module 4: Make Power Apps explores the three types of Power Apps and configuring model-driven, canvas-based, and portal applications with user experience considerations for each type.

Module 5: Build Power Automate Flows teaches automating business processes using cloud flows, business process flows, and UI automation flows.

Module 6: Work with Power Virtual Agents covers automating customer interactions using chatbots, creating topics, configuring entities, and testing and publishing chatbot solutions.

Module 7: Analyze Data with Power BI teaches working with Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service to analyze data and create visualizations, dashboards, and reporting solutions.
