In between and alongside the development of long-term photographic projects, a lot of other work gets made, work that may not be substantial enough for a book or easily assimilated into a larger project.
This course is dedicated to making something out of these other pictures—the “minor” works, one-off series, and various odds and ends that have yet to be properly articulated. Participants will look at a range of small, economical artist’s publications and discuss various readings around practice, brevity, imperfection, and play. The class will share their lingering sets of pictures and discuss ideas for how they can be developed into a physical form.
Most importantly, the course will conclude with each participant producing their own modest publication and sharing it.
